This will never subside. I know that I will have post traumatic stress disorder for the rest of my life. I have a therapist but I still do not go to NYC very often and I miss it terribly.

9/11 is not a fading memory for me. I lived very close and suffered from post traumatic stress disorder. My wife was pregnant with our first child at the time and we moved shortly after. My wife was clinically depressed after our first child was born. Thanks for acknowlodging this trauma, videomd.

As someone who lived in NYC at the time of the 9/11 attacks, I can tell you I still have nightmares about 9/11. Whenever I hear an airplane over head, I kind of duck, like it is going to come donw on my head. I now am living in the country-rural NY state, to get intouch with the environment.

Dr. Magee, as a healthcare worker, I have noticed this phenomenon as well. Not necessarily as dramatically as the post traumatic stress as people living in NYC. But I think that people may be less concerned with their health overall since 9/11 because of the fear of what may happen. The attitude seems to be- you never know what's going to happen, so why should I watch my cholesterol.
