Either we use artificial material to make a breast, which consist of tissue expanders and implants or we use the patient's own tissue to make a breast, which typically will consist of the patient's abdominal skin and soft tissue. Which procedure we'll use will commonly depend on the patient's anatomy, the patient's preference, and whether or not they need other treatment such as radiation or chemotherapy at some point during the course of their treatment.
