With more early diagnosis using mammography or MRI, most breast cancer patients can preserve the breast with the surgical treatment of a lumpectomy, used in association with chemotherapy or radiation therapy. For women that need a mastectomy, early recontruction can usually be achieved. Hormonal treatment using tamoxifen is also frequently used.
