Dr. Jim Krainson, a sleep medicine specialist, discusses the cardiovascular complications of Sleep Apnea. Low oxygen form sleep apnea at night can cause angina because there is not enough oxygen to the heart muscle. Arousals at night occur because your brain wakes up when you stop breathing. This causes stress on the heart, and raises blood pressure. People that snore loudly, has daytime sleepiness, or stops breathing at night should see a sleep doctor.
