Patients with diabetes can have multiple problems. With high blood sugar, (frequently in people with high blood pressure) the small blood vessels in the eye can swell and blood and cause vision problems and blindness. It can also cause kidney failure, neuropathy, which causes pain, and numbenss and tingling in the arms and legs. It also increases risk of heart disease and peripheral artery disease.
