Coronary artery disease, hypertension, and diabetes can all cause a heart muscle to fail, and cause CHF or congestive heart failure. Swelling of the legs is a common finding, as well as shortness of breath beacuse of fluid in the lungs. Treatment is with medications such as diuretics, and an ACE inhibitor, but more invasive treatements may be needed.
