Description:

DVT- deep venous thrombosis. DVT is a clot that forms usually in the legs. Risk factors include inactivity, injury, post op, hospitalization and clotting problems. People greater than 60, as well as smokers and pregnant women are also at risk. Symptoms include pain in the legs, especially the calf, as well as leg swelling and discoloration. Treatment is with blood thinner, and sometimes an IVC filter.
