Description:

The HgA1c test is a blood test that reflects your average blood glucose levels for the past 2 to 3 month period. It is a good measure of the overall control of your diabetes. It is recommended that you check this every 3 to 6 months to help follow your diabetes management, in addition to daily blood sugar levels. The goal HgA1c is less than 7%. Dr. Martin J. Abrahamson. Medical Director, Joslin Clinic. Diabetes Hga1c test. Boston, MA.

I have a family member who is diabetic. I help her with her diet and exercise. Her hga1c has been in a normal range for the past year and she is doing great with her diabetes. We are going to keep her in good shape so she doesn't suffer any of the complications of diabetes. The Hga1c is the best number to watch for long term sugar management.

My endocrinologist checks my A1c twice a year, and it is always exactly 6, he tells me that this is pretty good for someone who has been diabetic for 14 years. I check my own blood sugar 3 times a day.
