Diabetics are at risk for eye problems including cataracts, glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy. Diabetic retinopathy occurs when there is damage and swelling to the small blood vessels in the retina, in the back of the eye. This can cause blurry vision, floaters, and even blindness. Good blood sugar control is important in preventing this complication of diabetes.
