Description:

Stroke can has devastating long term neurologic sequellae. Recently physicians are treating patients with stroke with more agressive treatment early in the course of stroke. Some patients are treated by placing small catheters in the brain and treating the blood clot in the brain locally through the catheter. The most important factor is timeliness of treatment in these patients, so it is important to recognize the symptoms early.

My father in law had a stroke and it really made him incapacitated. I wish that these catheters had been in place a few years ago. Is this something that cardiologists do as well? Or, is it only someone who can give TPA?
