The sun has many effects on the eyes including adversly affecting the conjunctiva, which is the skin that covers the eye, and sun damage may also be responsible for cataracts and macular degeneration in some patients.
Vision Corrective Surgery is very common, there are different surgical options for vision correction. The most common is Lasik laser eye surgery. This type of surgery is very effective, but some patients are poor candidates for this type of Eye surgery. Having a thin cornea eliminates the ability to make a flap of the cornea for surgery. PRK is an excellent alternative for those patients as no corneal flap is necessary for PRK.
