There is a new black box warning on the diabetes medications avandia, and other medications in it's class. Certain diabetes medications such as avandia are now contraindicated in patients with class 4 heart failure. If patients on these medications develop symptoms such as weight gain, shortness of breath, or leg edema or swelling- they should see their doctor for evaluation.
