DVT is deep venous thrombosis, which simply stated is a blood clot in the vein. DVT occurs most commonly in the legs and presents with a painful, swollen leg. Orthostatic hypotension occurs when you go from a lying or sitting position to a standing position. It occurs because blood pools in the legs, and lowers the blood pressure.
