David H. Mull, M.D. talks about Aortic and Mitral Valve repair. Patients with any heart valve problem may have symptoms of shortness of breath, chest pain, leg swelling and weight gain. Valves can be obstructed, such as aortic stenosis, or leakiness, such as mitral regurgitation. The mitral valve can frequently be repaired, and maintain some of the structure of the valve and avoid anticoiagulation with coumadin.
