Heart failure is a dysfunction in the pumping action of the heart. As heart failure progresses, the body attempts to compensate for it by increasing the size of the heart. Common symptoms include general fatigue, shortness of breath, and severe swelling of the legs. Treatments include medications for most, and Biventricular pacing in some. EECP- counter pulsation is occasionally used, and heart tranplant in a few.
