HIT is common. Heparin causes adverse events in 5-10% of recipients, and up to 30% of hemodialysis patients. Ask your doctor about alternatives to heparin.

This is a helpful update. A friend of mine is frequently in the hospital for a heart condition, and always gets heparin when he is in the hospital.
