Description:

Many people with GERD- gastroesophageal reflux disease also have a hiatal hernia, which is an outpuching of the esophagus. A hiatal hernia creates incompetence of the lower esophageal sphincter, which makes you more prone to GERD and the symptoms of heartburn.
