Arthritis of the hip usually causes pain in the hip, but people may also complain of fatigue in the hip, and pain in the groin radiating to the knee. An xray will show the arthritis. Steroid injection into the hip can improve symptoms for a few months, along with nonsteroidal medications. Hip replacement and hip resurfacing, including the Birmingham surgery are surgical options, if people fail medical therapy.
