New guidelines from the American College of Physicians recommends imaging studies for people with back pain only when there are significant neurologic symptoms or in people with other significant medical problems. It is important to determine if the back pain is muscles and musculoskelatal pain, or is there a more serious cause.

Your Low back pain video discusses alternative care for people who suffer from lower back pain. You mentioned several: accupuncture, massage and medication but did not mention physical therapy and you were actually showing video clips of someone doing physical therapy. There are some significant treatment regimens for people who suffer from lower back pain. Pelvic realignment, anterior hip and pelvic muscle lengthening, improve hip mobility, improve hip strength, educate patient on proper mechanic on bending from the hips instead of lower back. Traditional physical therapy has fallen short with just exercise. There are physical therapist who are highly trained in these areas and utilize a more total body evaluation and utilizing manual therapy techniques to properly align the pelvis and lumbar spine without manipulation. Reduce myofascial restrictions and strengthen weak deep stabilizers first before working on larger movement oriented muscles. Physical therapist should be the primary choice for innervention of lower back pain, but choosing the right one is essential. Andrew Clary MS MPT ATC, FROGS Physical Therapy Scottsdale AZ
