Dr Peter Whorwell, Professor of Gastroenterology at the Univ. of Manchester, discusses the medical therapy of IBS or irritable bowel syndrome. Anti spasmodics and anti diarrheals are commonly used in IBS patients. They also have to watch their diet closely. Many IBS patients are also treated with antidepressant medications.
