Description:

Over the counter medications may not be adequate for the severe headache and nausea. The triptans, such as imitrex, can decrease the frequency and severity of headaches, but can not be used in people with heart disease. The seizure medications depakote (valproic acid), topamax can also help with headaches. Stopping smoking is also critical for patients with migraines. Other types of headaches include cluster headaches, and muscle tension headaches.
