What is Myeloma? Dr. Morie Gertz, from the Mayo Clinic reviews multiple myeloma. Myeloma is a cancer of the plasma cells of the bone marrow. The first test that reveals myeloma is usually a blood test that finds an increased number of plasma cells of the blood, anemia, elevated calcium, elevated uric acid, and abnormal urine function. The bone marrow will also be examined. Symptoms can include fatigue, shortness of breath, tiredness and bone pain..
