Description:

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is a genetic disease which causes the heart muscle to be abnormally thick. Patients that can not be treated adequately with medical therapy sometimes have to undergo surgery. This surgery is called a myomyectomy, most commonly done on the septum (or middle) of the heart.
