New treatment for Barrett's esophagus: Dr. David Fleicher, a gastroenterologist at Mayo Clinic: Chronic GERD- acid reflux can cause damage to the lining of the lower esophagus. Barrett's esophagus is a precancerous finding and puts you at risk for esophageal cancer. A new treatment using radiofrequency ablation can eliminate the damaged inner lining of the esophagus.
