Pacemaker. A pacemaker is placed under the collar bone, and a wire, or lead is placed in the heart through a vein. A pacemaker is usually placed for people who have a slow heart rate, called bradycardia. People with bradycardia can have lightheadedness, or even passing out, or syncope.
