A new study shows that the pain from sicke cell disease is severe and chronic. Pain from sickle cell disease is frequently daily, and severe, usually bone pain. Sickle cell disease is caused by a mutation in the red blood cells that cause them to be an abnormal shape. Dr. Wally Smith. Virginia Commonwealth University.
