Description:

Dr. Todd Rudo, a cardiac electrophysiologist, discusses palpitations. Palpitations can be from skipped beats, extra beats, or a fast heart beat. Common tests for palpitations include an EKG, a holter moniter-worn for 24 hrs, or an event moniter-worn up to 30 days, or an implanted loop recorder. An echocardiogram is also important, as well as a stress test. Thyroid problems can cause palpitations. Main Line Cardiology Assoc. Paoli, PA. 610-647-2400

Thanks so much for this information. I was diagnosed with PAC's which are premature atrial contractions. The feeling is very uncomfortable but it does not happen very often.

I found this information most helpful as the doctor gave me very little information but is planning on doing an ablation and, if necessary implant a pacemaker. I have periods of palpitations that wake me at night, my blook pressure also shoots up at those times, but both return to normal in a short period of time. It is very scary, but your video is most reassuring. Wish my doctor had recommended it, but I found it through WebMD.
