Description:

Peripheral artery disease is atherosclerosis of the vascular system outside of the heart. This disease process causes plaque build up, just as it occurs in the heart to cause coronary artery disease. In the legs, this can cause symptoms such as pain in the calfs, known as claudication. The risk factors for PAD- peripheral artery disease are similar to coronary disease, including smoking.

I go to the VA and told my Doctor that while walking to try and lose weight and help my heart I told her of tightness of calves and buttock, making it hard to walk. I just got a appointment notification for the vascular lab, found this site and this Doctor's video and now I know why am going. Excellent video, thank you Doctor.
