The most common problem is GERD-gastroesophageal reflux disease, when acid from the stomach refluxes back into the esophagus. Symptoms include heartburn, chest pain, asthma, difficulty swallowing, and an acidic taste in the mouth. This can lead to narrowing, bleeding or a tear in the esophagus. ANother problem is ulcer. This ulceration can occur in the stomach or duodenum. Video courtesy of eMedTV.com
