Prostate cancer can be found early in the disease process by using digital rectal exams, and PSA level in the blood. Treatment options include radiation therapy, either external beam radiation or radiation seed implants. Surgery and chemotherapy are also used depending on the extent of the disease. Hormone blockade may be used. The Gleason score is used to access disease extent.
