Prostate Cancer spreads in 3 ways- local growth, lymphatics, and the bloodstream. Determining the chance of spread helps in treatment decisions. One of the predictors of spread of prostate cancer is the stage of the disease at the time of diagnosis. Stage T-1 means the cancer is not felt on digital rectal exam, stage T-2 means there is a lump felt on exam, T-3 means there is a large, hard tumor outside the gland.
