Description:

Dr. Burkhart, a heart surgeon from the Mayo Clinic, discusses tetrology of fallot. It consists of 4 findings: ventricular septal defect-VSD, narrowing of the vessel that supplies blood to the lungs- Pulmonic Stenosis, a thickened right ventricle, and an overriding Aorta. Babies usually present in the first few days of life with cyanosis-turning blue-lips, fingertips. The treatment is surgical, usually a staged surgical treatment.
