This stands for Tumor size, Nodes, and Metastases. Stage 1 is a small tumor with no nodal involvement, up to Stage 4, which is metastatic. Once cancer involves the breast tissue, it is invasive, commonly infiltrating ductal or lobular carcinoma. Hormone receptor status will also affect prognosis, if positive, they can be treated with tamoxifen. Her-2/Neu also affects prognosis.
