Thyroid disease can cause a variety of symptoms. The symptoms of thyroid disease depend on what type of problem there is. Commonly hypothyroidism, an underactive thyroid, can cause fatigue, and weight gain, sensitivity to cold, constipation, dry skin and hair, impaired concentration, and depression. Hyperthyriodism, an overactive gland, causes irritability, difficulty sleeping, diarrhea, sweating ,and irregular heart beat.
