Description:

Chemotherapy for treatment of colon cancer can frequently cause diarrhea. There are standard medications for the treatment of this, but when they do not work, some physicians use more aggressive treatement. Sandostatin is a medication that can be used in these cases. There are significant side effects, so you must see a specialist to consider this therapy. Dr. Stephen Rosenoff. Roanoke, VA.

Chemotherapy induced diarrhea can happen with anyone undergoing treatment for cancer. I am sure that it is more common with colon cancer, but I know people with other types of cancer that have had the same problem.

My good friend has been diagnosed with anal cancer. She had a small spot two and a half years ago. She had surgery on September 11th and it is not in her lymph nodes. She is going to see her oncologist to see if a combination of radiation and chemotherapy will work. The worry of a colostomy bag has sent her into a depression. If anyone knows of any alternative centers, please post a message.
