Types of Diabetes. Type 1 diabetics do not make insulin from their pancreas. They always need insulin supplementation to control their blood sugar. Type 1 diabetes usually presents earlier in life. Type 2 diabetics make insulin, but have insulin resistance. People with type 2 diabetes are usually overweight or obese, and usually occurs in older people.
