Understanding CAD. Plaque that is rich in cholesterol deposits in the inside wall of the arteries that supply the heart with blood. As this plaque worsens, it can decrease the blood flow to the heart, which can cause symptoms such as chest pain- angina, and shortness of breath, or irregualr heart beats, . Eventually there can be damage to the heart muscle or even a heart attack. Video courtesy of eMedTV.com
