Description:

Dr. Richard Davidson, an opthalmolgist from University of Colorado, discusses how the sun effects your eyes. The sun has many effects on the eyes including adversly affecting the conjunctiva, which is the skin that covers the eye, and sun damage may also be responsible for cataracts and macular degeneration in some patients.

My aunt loved the sum her whole life. She developed cataracts recently, and I thought is was related to sun damage to the eye. I told her for years to wear sunglasses. Now she required eye surgery to improve the vision in her eyes. The opthalmology doctor that performed the eye surgery said her cataracts were so bad that he was surprised she had not gotten into a car accident before the surgery.
