What exactly is Crohn's Disease and what causes it? Crohn's disease is part of a group of diseases called the inflammatory bowel diseases, which includes crohn's disease, and ulcerative colitis. Crohn's can affect the entire GI tract while ulcerative colitis is limited to the large colon. It is felt that it is due to an overreaction of the immune system to environmental exposure.
