Description:

What is avascular necrosis? Avascular necrosis means that there is no blood flow to the bone. The most common place to have avascular necrosis is in the head of the femur or the ball of the hip. When you lose the blood supply to the bone, the bone dies. The pain from avascular necrosis is very intense. It causes severe hip pain. It usually requuires a hip replacement.
