Description:

Dr. William Abraham of the Ohio State University tells patients that have heart failure that they should know what their ejection fraction number is. The ejection fraction or EF refers to the % of blood that is pumped from the heart muscle with every heart beat. In patients with congestive heart failure, this number is usually low, and they may be at risk for sudden death. Normal ejection fraction is greater than 55%.
