Becky Kuhn, MD explains why everyone age 13-64 should be tested for HIV. In 2006 the CDC (Center for Disease Control) recommended testing for all patients age 13-64. It was estimated that 1 in 4 positive individuals in the US do not know that htet have been infected with HIV. Therefore, they would not get treatment that could improve their health, and save their life. They may also transmit the virus to others without realizing it and fail to take proactive measures like safer sex.
