JAMA Report: Dr Steven Nissen, a cardiologist at the Cleveland Clinic, presents a study reported in JAMA that a new wieght loss drug may help patients with coronary artery disease. The drug, Rimonabant, is used in Europe, but not yet approved in the United States for weight loss. Although further studies are necessary, this study did show some benefit in patients with heart disease.

I hope that I am a candidate for Rimonabant. I have tried everything including the new powder called Sensa. I have many risk factors for heart disease and want to be healthy.

Dr nissen when do you think this drug may be available in the US. I am very interested in this. I am obese, but because of my history of heart disease, I can not find a surgeon to perform gastric bypass. I have high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and diabetes, and I know these would all be improved if I could loose weight.
