Risk factors for heart disease in women include cigarette smoking, hypertension, high cholesterol, diabetes, and the metabolic syndrome. Womens symptoms can be somewhat different than men. Alhough they may have chest pain, they may have neck or abdominal pain, or shortness of breath. Women need to stop smoking, eat a healthy diet, and exercise regularly.
