I was suffering from back problems since months now. I have been practicing the exercises shown in the video and they are working wonders for me! Thanks for the helpful video.

Loredana, thank you for this video. My husband has chronic back pain, and because of my own medical problems, I have difficulty helping him. I told him about your video.

I'm a guy who had a nagging back injury that would never quite heal. I was always aware of my back, and the constant worrying over injuring it again does take a mental toll on you, besides the physical discomfort. Trying to get back to the normal physical activities and exercises I did before the injury never seemed to help my back at all. In fact, they often tended to aggravate it, so I found myself cutting out certain things that I used to do often. I never experienced yoga until attending Loredana's class for men and through this DVD. This DVD is an excellent low-key entry into yoga for men or anyone, for that matter, who might not otherwise feel comfortable attending an actual yoga class (although I highly recommend getting some good in-person instruction, too). The poses on this DVD may be deceptively simple compared to some of the really difficult-looking poses you might see others doing, but practiced regularly, they really can make a big difference if you're patient. In the past, I have tried stretching and looking for new stretches that target the back before, but they never really provided much relief compared to practicing yoga. Compared to simple stretches, I suspect that there is some synergy between stretching and strengthening going on with these yoga poses that provides lasting, drug-free back relief, plus yoga is a great overall stress reliever. I appreciate the fact that I'm doing something to actually heal and rehab my back and not just pop pills to cover up the discomfort or simply giving up and living with the discomfort. I'm a believer now!

To all interested, I wish you health and comfort! I designed this video program to help those in need. My experience with back trauma, and the tremendous healing powers of yoga gave me the motivation to truly help those who suffer. 10 years ago I survived a horrible automobile wreck that changed my life, and almost ended it. My little car was crushed by a truck, and it damaged several of my thoracic vertebrae (4,5, and 6), broke my skull and lacerated my brain, broke several bones in my chest and ribs, and badly lacerated several other internal organs. As part of my rehabilitation, which included learning to walk again, a friend introduced me to yoga, for not only the physical excercise, but also the spiritual hope and mental toughness that it would provide me. As an athlete, I wanted to not only survive, but to regain my physique and my ability to enjoy my healthy lifestyle. Along my path, I became so enthralled with the powers of yoga, that I made it my profession. While teaching yoga classes for families at a US Marine base, sometimes the Marines joined their wives, and I realized how much these men benefitted from the yoga. These were men who were returning from the wars- tough men- who might otherwise never be introduced or attracted to yoga. They enjoyed it, their bodies became more energized and flexible; it was a wonderful occurence to see them benefit so much, and go back to their other sports and activities; to have more comfort in their daily lives. Since that time, I dedicated myself to developing this Men's Back Health through Yoga class, both on video and for classroom instruction. I have established this as a weekly class in my local community's Adult Education program. It has been very succesful; a room full of 20 (men only!), practicing the Men's Back Health through Yoga program. The class ranges from students in their 30's to late 60's, with varying physical abilities and injuries. Some are not injured, but wish to enhance the sports they play and improve their basic every day comfort. They ALL enjoy it. My hope is that this class will reach the millions of men out here who have back pain, and seek to live more comfortably by learning to utilize the techniques of yoga. I WELCOME your comments and additions to this blog, as I will be writing more about how yoga specifically helps the back (and why men should do it too!). For more information, please visit the website www.mensbackhealth.com. Thank you for viewing and...Namaste! Sincerely, Loredana Meilbeck

Thanks for your comment. Yoga is VERY good for men dealing with chronic back pain. You can direct your brother to www.mensbackhealth.com for more information and to get the full length video so he can practice at home. If you (or he) have any specific questions or concerns for me, i would love the opportunity to respond to them. Namaste, Loredana Meilbeck
