Cardiovascular disease is the most common cause of death in America. There are risk factors for heart disease that everyone can modify. Dr Stephen Kopecky, a cardiologist at the Mayo Clinic, discusses 4 ways to prevent a heart attack. You must 1-avoid smoking, 2-lower your BMI to <25, 3-eat 5 fruits and vegetables a day, 4-exercise. Taking Omega 3 fatty acids can also help.

Blood circulation is essential in reducing heart attacks. Increase the blood circulation in your body by exercising. Take your health into your own hands by listening to Dr Kopecky and increasing your blood flow. If your condition is serious, then look into Enhanced External Counterpulsation (EECP) Therapy to increase blood flow and reduce the risks for heart failure.

As a health care provider, it is worrisome to see how Americans are not taking care of themselves. I see so many people with heart disease, who have had heart attacks, but they continue to smoke cigarettes. Not to mention, the obestiy rate in this country and the world is very worrisome. People need to take control of their own health.

I do not smoke and am working on my body mass index. I eat 5 fruits and vegetables and exercise. I also take Crestor and niaspam. However, my family history stinks...........so I am always concerned.
