Dr. Dan Krauthamer, Director, cardiac cath. lab South Miami Hospital. Cardiac catheterization is a procedure that allows us to evaluate your coronary anatomy, to look for blockages in the heart arteries. Dye is injected into the arteries to view them. We also assess the heart muscle and heart valves. A blockage can be opened with a balloon angioplasty at the same time.
